Pindul Cave, Jogjakarta, Indonesia
source : Yogya Backpacker |
I will explain first that it’s already been a while I shared my travelling experience, but I’ll do with this one. It is my experience couple days ago at Pindul Cave located near Jogjakarta in Java Island, Indonesia. It is located quite far from Jogjakarta city center. You can reach there by land, like bus or car. It takes 2-3 hours, maybe even more. So, here are my experience.
I.
ARRIVAL
When I arrived there, we (me and my
schoolmates that are one grade with me) are directed to ‘pendopo’ it’s stage
shaped for sitting and have roof made from bamboo mainly. We put our things and
the staff direct us to a place where we put on our life jacket, you pick your
own size. We go to Pindul Cave site on foot, but we stop first to take big
circle buoy, so we’re going to explore Pindul Cave with that, we float on it.
You need to know that Pindul Cave is
actually underground river (said by our guide), so we explore it floating on
the big circle buoy.
II.
PINDUL CAVE
We are arriving at the mouth of the
cave and the cave is full of water (as I said before) and we get on our circle
buoy and float on it and we are holding to some kinds of rope that stick to our
friend’s buoy on left and right, so we won’t be separated.
Just like the other cave, it’s dark
and I saw bats, they’re just flying or hanging but, they didn’t disturb us. The
guide pull the front person, and we all get pulled, it’s pretty long and there
are many stalactites and stalagmites. The water itself (said the guide) is
mixture between the cave rocks, sea water and others.
Almost at the end we saw a big whole
and it’s actually amazing you can see the sky from there with the hanging
plants on it and the lights just goes in. For those, who loves nature discovery
I really recommend this. But, if you have phobia of darkness or water, I
recommend you not to come here, you know why.
After that we leave our buoy and the
buoy was carried by the staff there and we walk and we are transported with an
open-back small truck to rafting site. It’s just like a small version of
off-road with jeep. We arrived at the site and again, we’re using the previous
big black circle buoy.
III.
RAFTING
When I was there, it was low tide, so
the rafting are short but, if it was high tide, it is long (again said by the
guide). After experiencing that, we just float while the small flow pushes us,
so it’s really relaxing. Thrilling at first, then relaxing, what a combination!
And a rare experience. After we come for ashore, we get back to the main
station (where we wore our life jacket) with the small open-back truck. We all
took shower on ourselves and we pack to leave the site.
